Kalimpong, Best day of My life – A feeling of Celebrity
Now, I headed towards Kalimpong. Known for its colonial-era buildings, it is just a 100 km drive from Darjeeling. However, it took me more than 5 hours to get there.
After surviving a ravenous night with some chunks of bland food, Lamahatta had some appetising meals to offer, accompanied by an enchanting vibe. An amicable conversation with the owner of the hotel created a light-hearted ambience. This has set the stage for the perkiness that I had in the offing. So, I went on and performed. I also captured the memories of euphony in photos and videos.
And the underrun of my car continued as the brakes failed in between the sloping lanes. Fortunately, I was able to escape the horrific experience of failed brakes. A kind guy arranged a mechanic, and until then, I hung around with him in that remote area with no accessibility to food. Planning for the stay, I booked at a guest house and hysterically, for worse, it took me a round of overturns to reach my place.
The next day, setting new beginnings, I was very excited to perform at an age-old reputed school named Dr. Graham’s School. The school is famous as the nation’s singing school since it has successfully directed major student musicians and singers out of the country to prominent foreign singing schools.
The school is on the top of hills of Kalimpong, where a narrow road leads up to it. It was quite a hell of a trek, but it was all worth it. It had a lavish wooden auditorium, which made the musical experience mesmerising and riveting.
Around 700-800 students were assimilated in the auditorium. I performed for about two hours before them, and they went crazy.
Can you believe that?
They started hooting and raising requests for more performances. They were so ecstatically supportive. They surrounded me, asking for my autograph. I gave more than 200 autographs.
It was an inimitable experience when I achieved so tiny and just started taking small steps towards my life’s purpose. Even teachers and parents were so inspired that they wanted to encourage their children to follow their passion. The day holds a special part in my life. It has left an indelible mark on my mind.
Just when I started to leave in my car, a 10-year-old kid came running towards my car, just for my autograph. The autograph of mine simply doesn’t mean anything; it is just the fire that I want to arouse in today’s youth to pursue their passion and fight for it.
