Inspire The Nation | Day 23 | D Cafe, Kohima | Kohima | Nagaland

Kohima, Nagaland

Kohima, located in the Naga hills, is breathtakingly beautiful. It is a hilly capital city of Nagaland. The awe-inspiring landscapes encompassing the moderate climate make it one of the top tourist destinations.

Throughout the roadway, inquisitiveness hit me as it was difficult to spot any animals, either as stray or as pets, on the streets of Kohima. Later, I found some dogs hanging in street food markets; then I learned that Kohima’s staple diet is mainly animal-based, which includes dogs, monkeys, etc., and other birds.
Being a vegetarian, it was pretty difficult for me to find suitable food. But somehow, I managed.

Another thing I noticed about Nagaland is that it is majorly matriarchal in its occupational structure. Nearly all of the chores were done by women; even my luggage items were carried to my room by a woman. That felt unusual and strange. But it’s nice to encounter such different cultures compared to one’s.

Furthermore, I found, ironically, the most beautiful coffin shops in Kohima. Almost every other shop was of coffins. After much ado, I ascertained that since more than 70% of the population works in churches, the coffins were in much demand.

Subsequently, I performed at some place, not much known. I didn’t get much of a good response. But, when I increased my interaction with the crowd, then the vibe got good.
After the exhaustion of the day, I decided to leave for my hotel. It was my hasta la vista for Nagaland.
